The Field Service Technician provides on-site service, maintenance, and technical support for customers in the Feed, Biomass, Pet Food, Extrusion, and Industrial sectors across the U.S. and Canada. Responsible for installation, troubleshooting, repair, and customer training on Feed & Biofuel equipment. Ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality service delivery in alignment with company standards and customer expectations.
*This role requires the successful candidate to be located in the U.S. Midwest, specifically within 100 miles of Minneapolis, Minnesota or Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to support regional operations.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Provide technical support and as needed response to customers, field technicians, and sales/account managers.
- Participate in equipment start-ups, commissioning, and complex repair work.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, flow diagrams, and schematics to identify issues and perform accurate repairs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, installation, or performance problems in the field.
- Perform precision measurements using Verniers, Micrometers, and Dial Indicators.
- Support Customer Account Managers in identifying parts for repairs, rebuilds, and warranty work.
- Complete service reports, invoicing documentation, and administrative tasks accurately and on time.
- Participate in trade shows, demonstrations, and customer training sessions.
- Always maintain safe work practices and adherence to company safety policies.
- Carry a company-issued cell phone and remain on call for customer emergencies.
- Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.
When selecting candidates, we will be looking for the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of education.
- Proficiency in mechanical systems, assembly, and equipment repair.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
- Proficient in mathematics and measurement techniques.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Self-motivated with strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Other Valued Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Preferred):
- Experience with pelleting, grinding, and ancillary Feed & Biofuel processes.
- Previous field service or technical support experience in industrial equipment.
- Familiarity with customer service and warranty coordination.
- Experience conducting training or technical demonstrations.
- SAP experience
Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical work, including standing, bending, and climbing.
- Work performed in customer facilities, mills, and industrial environments with variable conditions.
- Must be able to work safely in noisy, dusty, and confined areas.
- Strong mechanical dexterity, balance, and coordination required.
- Ability to travel extensively and work irregular hours based on customer needs.
Other Requisites:
- Willingness to travel approximately 70% within North America (U.S. and Canada).
- Must be eligible for travel to Canada; previous DUI convictions may result in inadmissibility.
- Ability to train at company facilities in Muncy, PA; Garden City, GA; and Blenheim, ON (Canada) during onboarding.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
